A stew that stares back: spicy, sharp, and arranged as AI glasses on your plate.

A spicy Norwegian stew with sharp peppers and sour cream, arranged as AI glasses: two sour cream 'lenses', a beef stew 'frame', and crisp pickles as arms. The sharp, tense flavors echo the privacy debate and Norway's temporary AI glasses ban.

Ingredients

  • 800 g beef stew meat, cubed
  • 2 large onions, halved and sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 red chili peppers, sliced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 400 ml beef stock
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 200 g pickles, halved lengthwise
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot and brown the beef on all sides.
  2. Add onions, garlic, and chili; sauté for 5 minutes.
  3. Add tomato paste, paprika, and cumin; cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Deglaze with vinegar and add sugar, bay leaves, stock, salt, and pepper.
  5. Simmer gently with the lid on for 2 hours until the meat is tender.
  6. Remove bay leaves and adjust seasoning.
  7. On each plate, place two round dollops of sour cream side by side as lenses.
  8. Arrange beef stew in a curved line above as the frame.
  9. Place a halved pickle on each side, angled as arms of the glasses.
  10. Serve immediately.

Serving notes

  • Garnish with extra red chili for more tension.
  • Serve with rye bread for a Norwegian touch.
