Salad with a pepper barrier and egg jets, echoing Poland's closed airspace.

A sharp salad with grilled pepper strips laid diagonally across the plate as a closed airspace, flanked by halved eggs as fighter jets. The spicy dressing and pickles add tension. The silhouette refers to the airspace closure during the Russian attacks.

Ingredients

  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 red onion
  • 150 g arugula
  • 8 pickles
  • 2 tbsp capers
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 small red chili
  • salt and pepper

Method

  1. Grill the bell peppers in wide strips until dark and soft.
  2. Boil the eggs hard, peel and halve them.
  3. Slice the cucumber diagonally, and the red onion into thin rings.
  4. Slice the pickles lengthwise.
  5. Mix olive oil, white wine vinegar, mustard, honey, finely chopped chili, salt and pepper into a spicy dressing.
  6. Spread arugula over a large platter.
  7. Lay the grilled pepper strips diagonally as a broad barrier across the center of the platter, like closed airspace.
  8. Place a row of halved eggs on one side of the barrier, pointed towards it like fighter jets taking off.
  9. Scatter cucumber, pickles and onion rings playfully around.
  10. Sprinkle with capers and drizzle with the dressing.

Serving notes

  • Serve with extra chili for more tension.
  • Offer hearty bread to temper the sharp flavors.
