Credit card on your plate: neat on the outside, sharp inside—just like the news.

A salad shaped like a credit card: beet slices as the card, feta cubes as the chip, cucumber strips as the magnetic stripe. Outwardly neat, but a sharp mustard dressing cuts through. A nod to the diplomatic scandal and the debts at its core.

Ingredients

  • 2 large cooked beets, peeled
  • 150 g feta cheese
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 red onion
  • 100 g lamb's lettuce
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp whole grain mustard
  • 1 tsp honey
  • salt and pepper

Method

  1. Slice the beets into thin, rectangular slices about 1 cm thick, arranging them on a large plate to form a credit card shape.
  2. Cut the feta into small 1x1 cm cubes (for the chip) and place them in the corner of the beet slices.
  3. Slice the cucumber into long, thin strips and lay them as a magnetic stripe along the top edge of the 'card'.
  4. Slice the red onion into very thin rings and mix with the lamb's lettuce.
  5. Make a dressing from olive oil, white wine vinegar, mustard, honey, salt, and pepper.
  6. Toss the lamb's lettuce and onion rings with the dressing and arrange as a 'background' under and around the credit card.
  7. Drizzle extra dressing over the credit card for a sharp touch.

Serving notes

  • Serve on a large white plate to keep the credit card shape visible.
  • Let everyone slice their own 'card' for the ultimate scandal feeling.
