Based on:

TypeSoup

Serves4 people

DateSeptember 9, 2026

Soup as a digital vault, filled with spicy coins and a sharp twist.

Clear broth with round croutons and halved boiled eggs as 'cryptocoins' inside a 'vault' built from stacked leek rings. The silhouette shows a digital safe full of coins, referring to the massive crypto theft. Neat on the outside, but with a sharp, spicy kick inside.

Ingredients

  • 2 liters chicken stock
  • 2 leeks
  • 4 eggs
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 red chili pepper
  • 1 bunch chives
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Heat the chicken stock in a large pot.
  2. Cut the leeks into thick rings about 1 cm wide.
  3. Boil the eggs for 8 minutes, cool, peel, and halve them.
  4. Remove the crusts from the bread and cut out 12 round shapes with a glass or cutter.
  5. Heat olive oil in a frying pan. Fry the bread rounds with chopped garlic until golden and crisp.
  6. Slice the red chili pepper into thin rings.
  7. Blanch the leek rings in the stock for 1 minute, remove and pat dry.
  8. On each soup plate, stack the leek rings to form a small 'vault'.
  9. Arrange the egg halves and croutons as 'coins' in and around the vault. Sprinkle with chili and chives.
  10. Carefully pour the hot broth around the vault so the silhouette remains visible.

Serving notes

  • Serve with extra chili for the brave.
  • Assemble the plates at the table for a surprise effect.
