Five stuffed eggs as real estate, but with a sharp inside: a soup that reveals the scandal’s sting.

A Hungarian goulash soup topped with five halved, stuffed eggs in a row: neat as bank buildings, but each filled with a sharp mustard bite. The pretty real estate hides a prickly inside—just like the scandal.

Ingredients

  • 2 onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 400 g stewing beef
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (400 g)
  • 1 l beef stock
  • 3 potatoes
  • 1 large carrot
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • salt and pepper
  • oil for frying
  • fresh parsley (garnish)

Method

  1. Chop the onions and finely mince the garlic.
  2. Dice the peppers, potatoes, and carrot.
  3. Cut the beef into cubes.
  4. Heat oil in a large pot, brown the beef on all sides.
  5. Add onion, garlic, and pepper, sauté for 5 minutes.
  6. Add paprika and caraway, briefly fry.
  7. Add tomatoes, stock, potato, and carrot.
  8. Bring to a boil, simmer for 1.5 hours.
  9. Meanwhile, hard-boil the eggs, peel and halve them lengthwise.
  10. Mix yolks with mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, salt, and pepper to make a filling.
  11. Stuff the egg halves with the mixture.
  12. Ladle soup into bowls, place five stuffed egg halves in a row on top as 'buildings'.
  13. Garnish with parsley.

Serving notes

  • Arrange the stuffed egg halves in a straight row atop the soup, like a tidy real estate portfolio.
  • Serve with rustic bread for a Hungarian touch.
