Spicy soup with chorizo 'motorcycles' in convoy: sharp, thrilling and unmistakably Hells Angels.

A spicy tomato and pepper soup topped with long, slanted chorizo strips arranged like motorcycles in a convoy. The sharp flavors and fiery color echo the tension of the police raid and the notorious biker life.

Ingredients

  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 red chili pepper
  • 800 g canned diced tomatoes
  • 1 liter chicken stock
  • 200 g chorizo (cut into long, slanted strips)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh coriander or parsley, roughly chopped

Method

  1. Cut the peppers into large pieces, chop the onion, mince the garlic, and slice the chili pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large soup pot. Sauté the onion, garlic, and chili for 3 minutes over medium heat.
  3. Add the bell peppers and smoked paprika, cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes and stock. Bring to a boil and simmer gently for 20 minutes.
  5. Blend the soup smooth with an immersion blender. Season with red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  6. Slice the chorizo into long, slanted strips (motorcycles). Fry them in a dry pan for 2 minutes until slightly crispy.
  7. Pour the soup into bowls. Lay 3-4 chorizo strips diagonally in a row on each bowl, like a motorcycle parade.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander or parsley.

Serving notes

  • Serve with crusty bread.
  • Arrange the chorizo strips clearly as a convoy of motorcycles diagonally on the soup.
  • Add extra chili for those who want even more tension.
