Green bell peppers as rockets, red onion as interception: a salad full of tension and spice.

Long, diagonally placed green bell peppers as rockets, with half red onion as interception dome and a sharp, spicy dressing. The salad visually represents the intercepted rocket from the news, with tension from chili and acids.

Ingredients

  • 2 green bell peppers
  • 1 red onion
  • 200 g cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cucumber
  • 100 g feta cheese
  • 1 red chili pepper
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • salt and pepper

Method

  1. Wash the bell peppers and cut them lengthwise. Keep the halves whole.
  2. Cut the red onion into thick half rings.
  3. Halve the cherry tomatoes.
  4. Slice the cucumber thinly at an angle.
  5. Crumble the feta coarsely.
  6. Slice the red chili pepper into thin rings.
  7. Mix olive oil, white wine vinegar, lemon juice, honey, salt, and pepper into a sharp dressing.
  8. Place a half green bell pepper diagonally on each plate as a ‘rocket’.
  9. Place a half ring of red onion at the wide end as an ‘interception dome’.
  10. Distribute tomato, cucumber, and feta around the ‘rocket’.
  11. Sprinkle red chili over the salad for extra tension.
  12. Drizzle with the dressing.

Serving notes

  • Serve on a large white plate for contrast.
  • Let everyone add extra chili for more heat.
