Celebrate the Mars rover record with a golden, crispy rover silhouette on your plate.

Golden-brown potato rösti form the body of the Mars rover, with six crispy mini-sausages as wheels. The arrangement on the plate mimics the iconic rover silhouette. Celebrate the distance record with a side dish that literally wins.

Ingredients

  • 600 g waxy potatoes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 6 mini beef sausages (or vegetarian)
  • sunflower oil for frying
  • salt and pepper
  • fresh chives (optional, for garnish)

Method

  1. Peel and coarsely grate the potatoes. Squeeze out excess moisture.
  2. Finely chop the onion. Mix potato, onion, egg, flour, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Heat a layer of oil in a frying pan. Shape four oval rösti (about 8 cm long), fry until golden and cooked through on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
  4. Fry the mini sausages in another pan until browned and cooked through.
  5. On each plate, place one rösti as the 'body'. Arrange three sausages on each side as 'wheels', partially under the rösti. Optionally add chives as antennas.
  6. Serve immediately so everything stays crispy.

Serving notes

  • Garnish with a few chive sprigs as rover antennas.
  • Serve on a black plate for extra 'space' effect.
