Stew with sharp asparagus arrow and open egg as phishing button: spicy, sour, and suspenseful on the plate.

A spicy stew with sharp and sour notes, arranged as a fake login screen: on the plate, grilled green asparagus form an arrow pointing directly at a halved, open egg (the 'phishing button'). The stew is peppery and lemony, echoing digital danger.

Ingredients

  • 800 g beef stew meat, cubed
  • 2 red onions, halved and sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red chili pepper, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (400 g)
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • salt and pepper
  • 400 g green asparagus
  • 4 eggs
  • olive oil

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a stew pot. Brown the beef on all sides.
  2. Add onion, garlic, and chili pepper, sauté for 3 minutes.
  3. Add tomato paste, cook for 2 minutes. Then add diced tomatoes, lemon zest, lemon juice, vinegar, sugar, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Let simmer on low heat for 2 hours until the meat is tender. Stir occasionally.
  5. Boil the eggs for 7 minutes, cool in cold water, peel, and halve.
  6. Heat a grill pan. Brush asparagus with olive oil and grill until charred.
  7. Spoon the stew onto plates. Place a halved egg yolk-side up on each plate.
  8. Arrange 3-4 grilled asparagus spears per plate in a straight line, diagonally pointing at the halved egg, like a digital arrow.

Serving notes

  • Sprinkle extra lemon zest over the egg for added sharpness.
  • Serve with crusty bread for dipping into the stew.
