DateSeptember 30, 2026

A warm salad with sausage and eggs shaped into a looping rollercoaster.

Warm potato salad in a bowl, with curved rows of grilled sausage and peppers as rails, halved eggs as coaster cars. The plating forms a rollercoaster with visible loops: comforting, catastrophic, yet edible. The rails reference the now-closed X2 coaster.

Ingredients

  • 800 g waxy potatoes
  • 4 bratwursts (approx. 400 g)
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 1 yellow bell pepper
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 g lamb's lettuce
  • 2 tbsp coarse mustard
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Peel the potatoes, slice into 1 cm rounds, and boil for 12 minutes until cooked. Drain.
  2. Boil the eggs for 8 minutes until hard, cool, peel, and halve.
  3. Slice the bell peppers into 1 cm wide strips.
  4. Grill the bratwursts in a grill pan until cooked through and browned. Slice each sausage lengthwise in half.
  5. Briefly grill the pepper strips until softened.
  6. Make a dressing from mustard, olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  7. Mix the potato slices with lamb's lettuce and half the dressing in a large bowl.
  8. Arrange the sausage halves in curved tracks over the salad as rollercoaster rails. Make at least one loop or sharp turn.
  9. Lay the grilled pepper strips as extra rails between and alongside the sausages.
  10. Distribute the halved eggs as coaster cars on the rails, rounded side up.
  11. Drizzle the remaining dressing over the top.

Serving notes

  • Serve in a large bowl so the rollercoaster shape remains visible.
  • Offer extra mustard dressing on the side for thrill-seekers.
