An oven dish as a sofa with a painting above: the news on your plate.
A rectangular, solemn oven dish styled as a sofa silhouette, with a 'painting' of grilled vegetables above it. The sofa nods to the artwork above the Argentine couch; the dish is robust, classic, and presented with clean lines.
Ingredients
- 800 g waxy potatoes
- 4 large eggplants
- 2 red bell peppers
- 2 zucchinis
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 400 g ground beef
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 can diced tomatoes (400 g)
- 100 g grated cheese
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- salt and pepper
- 1 bunch parsley
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Peel the potatoes, slice into 1 cm rounds, and boil for 10 min. Drain.
- Slice eggplants lengthwise into 1 cm planks. Grill briefly in a grill pan with some oil until striped.
- Cut pepper and zucchini into strips. Chop onion and garlic.
- Sauté onion and garlic in 1 tbsp oil. Add beef, brown. Add tomato paste, paprika, diced tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10 min.
- Grease a rectangular oven dish. Cover the bottom with potato slices as a tight sofa seat. Along the short side, place upright eggplant slices as back and armrests, snugly together.
- Spoon the meat mixture over the potatoes. Cover with another layer of potato slices.
- On the 'backrest', place a rectangle of grilled pepper and zucchini, as a painting. Sprinkle cheese over everything.
- Bake 30 min. until golden. Garnish with parsley.
- Serve from the dish, keeping the silhouette visible.
Serving notes
- Serve on white plates to keep the sofa silhouette sharp.
- Cut carefully so each portion keeps the shape.
- Drizzle a line of olive oil as a 'frame' around the painting.
