A hearty, smoky soup topped with halved boiled eggs and sausage slices forming a prehistoric pig silhouette, echoing Sulawesi’s endangered cave paintings. The pig shape is a direct nod to the news about the threatened rock art.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 liter beef stock
  • 200 g potatoes
  • 4 boiled eggs
  • 100 g smoked sausage
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley

Method

  1. Finely chop the onion and garlic. Cut carrot, celery, and bell pepper into pieces.
  2. Heat olive oil in a soup pot. Sauté onion and garlic for 2 minutes. Add carrot, celery, and bell pepper, cook for 5 minutes.

  4. Bring to a boil and simmer for 20 minutes until everything is tender. Season with salt and pepper.
