Baked potato wedges form a sharp Air Force One with spicy and sour accents.

Crispy, spicy baked potato wedges arranged as Air Force One, with red peppers for wings and a pickle cockpit. The sharp flavors and clear silhouette refer to CNN's exclusion from the presidential plane.

Ingredients

  • 800 g large waxy potatoes
  • 2 red pointed peppers
  • 1 large pickle
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 lemon (juice and zest)
  • salt to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C.
  2. Wash the potatoes and cut them into long, thick wedges.
  3. Mix the wedges with olive oil, smoked paprika, chili flakes, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  4. Arrange the wedges on a baking sheet lined with parchment in a long row to form the silhouette of an airplane fuselage.
  5. Bake the wedges for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Cut the pointed peppers into long strips. Place them diagonally on both sides of the potato fuselage as wings.
  7. Cut the pickle in half and place it at the front of the potato fuselage as the cockpit.
  8. Serve immediately, with the sharp, sour flavors as a nod to the news.

Serving notes

  • Serve on a large, rectangular platter for the airplane effect.
  • Offer extra lemon wedges for those who want it even sharper.
